We have a problem in our home.
A big problem.
A problem of epic proportions.
It occurs in different rooms in the house, and it’s growing, now that summer is here.
The Living Room:
The Library:
The Kitchen:
During the school year, there’s a routine.
Kids get off the bus, come in the front door, shoes go directly in the closet.
Summer?
Not so much.
They are in and out the front door, the door that leads to the garage, the two sliders to the deck.
Anywhere and everywhere, and the shoes and flip-flops just go a-flying.
Drives me insane.
So, while I declutter and purge this summer, I’ll also be creating summertime shoe rules.
Who knew we’d need them?
ohhhhh – it so looks like our house. It drives me crazy too.

Thinking of paring down to 3 pairs per kid. Sneakers, flip-flops or crocs, and dress shoes.

good luck with that. Let me know how is goes, especially if they say “Mom/Dad, how come you have more that three pairs?”

Let me know how that one works. I was putting away shoes in the girls closet this am and I though of your idea. I think my youngest one has probably 12 pairs of shoes and only wears 3 or 4 pairs. The good news is most are handed down, the others are bought at a discount shop. I’ve just had to step away from the argument.

We’re in the same spot. Their shoes are all hand-me-downs, except for the new sneakers they get at the beginning of each school year. Hard to turn down hand-me-downs, except, perhaps I don’t have to keep them all. I could pass most of them along, as well. That’s on me!

My family does the same exact thing! I pick them up and throw them all into the hall and then make the kids clean up the hall.

Hmm….this post made me think about the sheer volume of shoes that I have vs what I wear most often. I’ve already purged 25 pairs this past spring (donated) but I prob could purge another 25 and still have plenty to choose from LOL *blushes*
