So, Heather at Beauty That Moves wrote an interesting post yesterday about Lady Gaga, and as I read, I had to admit that I haven’t really given her much of a chance.
Poker Face drives me nuts, as a musical composition, but some of her other stuff doesn’t make my ears bleed, so I’ve been somewhat neutral where she is concerned.
I read Heather’s blog yesterday, and decided to sit for a few minutes and give her a real listen.
I have to say, the girl can sing, and I’m impressed.
The psychologists daughter in me can’t help but wonder what she’s hiding behind all those costumes, but then I remember Elton John and I realize that some people just love the pizazz.
So, check her out in her performance on The View. When you get the chance to just listen to her and not be (too) distracted by the “stuff” she’s pretty darn good!
Reminds me of something Hollyn said to me a few weeks ago when we were listening to the radio…”You know mom, it’s too bad Lady Gaga is such a freak, because she’s actually a really good singer!” Couldn’t have said it better myself! She really does have an amazing voice and most of the songs that she’s had that have hit Top 40, I must admit, I’ve bought and downloaded to my ipod! I just have to pretend she’s not wearing suits covered in meat and all that weird stuff!
I saw her two weeks ago, also, as a Guest Judge on “So You Think you Can Dance” and was totally surprised with how composed and well thought out her comments were. She seemed…might I dare say…normal…aside from the HUGE crazy shoes and colored hair. LOL

Wow. Love that performance! I had a similar reaction when I watched the video of her singing “The Edge” on the Howard Stern Show. If you haven’t seen that one yet, you should google it. Another example of the incredible pipes she has. There are moments where she just loses herself in the song and the music where you just see HER instead of all the “stuff.” I find myself listening to her differently since watching that and now this one, too. go go Gaga!! 🙂

I have to agree with Gretchen’s comments. She IS so talented, but I wish it wasn’t in such a freakish fashion. It almost hides her genius. She is remarkable entertainer. Gotta give her props for her talent. Would love it, though if she weren’t so darn controversial!

Hey Amer! She was really good as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. She was constructive and very supportive. Provided tears at the right time. She had these 12″ Gaga booties on and said, “In the dance world, when you love a performance, you throw a show at the dancer.” So, she threw one shoe to the dancers and the other shoe to the choreographer who was in the audience. Too funny. I love her. Except now that my girls saw her on the cover of the NYT magazine (a few months ago) with her butt hanging out, we have to tread lightly on who mommy likes as a singer.
