Strange Bedfellows

Most kids snuggle with a favorite blanket.

Some kids snuggle with a favorite stuffed animal.

Monkey Girl snuggles with “Dolly.”

Monkey in the Middle snuggles with “Blue Elephant.”

(You can see that we are really creative with our names for toys around our house.)

What does Baby Monkey snuggle with at bedtime?

Well, it depends.

Last night, he snuggled with his drumsticks.

Two nights ago, he snuggled with a Hess truck.

Last week, I went up to give him a middle of the night kiss because I was missing him and I found him snuggling with a tambourine.

I don’t know about you, but when I’m snuggling with something at bedtime, I expect it to be…oh, I don’t know…snuggly.

Apparently, Baby Monkey doesn’t share this predilection.

That’s okay, I guess.

As long as he is happily sleeping through the night, he can snuggle with anything he wants.

Okay, maybe not anything, but just about anything.

Sometimes, I don’t get this kid.

But good lord, do I love him!

  1. Ryan is a pack rat. When I went to get him from his crib this afternoon I found the following items in his crib which he apparently could NOT go to sleep without:

7 binkies (just in case he can’t find one)
2 lovies (just in case he can’t find one)
    1 toy hammer
    1 little people dog
    2 little people
    2 books
1 page ripped from a book that was his Daddy’s when he was a little boy (grrrrrr)
1 letter “v” meant for the bath
    3 balls

yup he’s a pack rat and definitly a boy!

  3. Lizzy (now 16) used to snuggle with Mum. Or if Mum wasn’t around, with one of Mum’s hankies. And of course she had her thumb. A delicious thumb, which she would happily share with anyone she loved. Mum, Dad, her sisters, the cats…

Fran (now 11) used to snuggle with Mum, too. Now, she takes her favourite doll (Elise) to bed with her. And the cat, but he won’t always stay as he’s got a mind of his own.

I have to add, we used to have a family bed when the girls were little. It was so much easier than having to get up when they needed us, and since I nursed my children for years – on demand, which meant during the wee hours too, if they happened to wake up and needed a quick fix… Yep, definitely easier that way. I hardly even woke up, once they were big enough to help themselves. 😀
