Yes, I have a “Real Food” page, where I have listed the recipes that we usually eat around here.
However, I have also started that page with the disclaimer that I’m not much of a gourmet.
Our usual fare is pretty tame.
Tonight, though, I created…
a masterpiece.
At this point, you are probably imagining filet mignon or something fancy.
It was mac and cheese.
But, better.
So, pardon me for hijacking my own blog, but this is too good not to share, right here on the main page.
In a saucepan, melt 1/4 stick of butter.
Finely chop a few cloves of garlic and add to the butter.
Add 1/2 cup of chicken stock/broth
Add 2 cups milk
When that comes to a boil, lower heat and add almost a whole block of sharp cheddar cheese, diced
When the cheese is completely melted in, add to 1 pound of cooked pasta (we used elbow…Rachel Ray used whole wheat penne)
Add cooked broccoli florets
Put in a greased casserole dish
Sprinkle the top with the remainder of the cheddar, shredded and a handful of flavored bread crumbs
Cook at 350 in the oven for about 15 minutes, just to brown the top
Voila!
Even Real Man had seconds and he is not a mac and cheese fan.
I just thought it was a nice twist on a fairly plain meal.
Enjoy!
